Looking Glass: 2018 Highlights

It’s been a few months since I’ve posted, and we’re already on day 2 of 2019! How did that happen? I know I tend to say that at the end/start of every year, but I feel like 2018 has truly been a strange combination of very fast and very slow. A lot has happened since I last checked in, and I plan to write about some of those things in the new year.

For now, here’s a few highlights from the outfits (geeky and not) I wore in 2018. It’s a feature of this blog to show you how I use fashion to express myself and to take my geekery with me on my travels. So I hope some of these looks inspire you, too!

"Something inside me has always been there, but now it's awake.” It’s been A DAY here, but like Rey, I’m finding my resolve to fight. And I’d like to give #womancrushwednesday shoutouts: 1) @celeste_pewter & @theroadto18 team -helping us to know what actions to take to resist effectively. 2) @elhofferdesign for amazing geek fashion (this Rey-inspired Scavenger Vest is her design) & her fierce commitment to making fashion a more sustainable & welcoming place. 3) @thisdorkynerdgirl for these beautiful photos & for asking me to the photoshoot for the Elhoffer Design pieces. I loved styling this cropped version of the Scavenger Vest (I have the original version) & I love being able to channel Rey’s strength. Check out @templeofgeek’s page for a review of Elhoffer Design’s Galactic Apparel line & more photos! . . . Bonus: the necklace I bought from @jasminemarina.art, another woman creative making beautiful, natural art. . . #wcw #womencrushwednesday #geekchic #elhofferdesign #shopsmall #Rey #starwars #starwarsstyle #starwarslife #jointheresistance #starwarsfashion #wearethespark #fandomfashion

What’s your favorite way to wear your fandom?

P.S. There will be a better recap of my 2018 at A Nudge in the Right Direction soon. So look out for that!

P.P.S. Next up for Girl on the Roam? My “Word of the Year” post next week! This is how I set my intention for the year in lieu of making individual resolutions.
